The story

From Duke-trained surgeon to menopause specialist

Dr. Ibrahim's path began at Duke University School of Medicine, followed by a urology residency at Duke University Medical Center. For more than two decades he built a distinguished career as a board-certified urologist and surgeon.

In 2010, at the height of that career, a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis forced him to step back from surgery. Rather than retire, he immersed himself in restorative and hormonal medicine — and discovered a field that could dramatically improve quality of life, yet was too often misunderstood and underused, especially for women navigating menopause.

Today, Dr. Ibrahim brings that hard-won empathy, together with 30+ years of medical training, to the women of Western North Carolina — with a specialist's focus on perimenopause, menopause, and the years beyond.

"MS taught me what it feels like to have your body betray you. That experience makes me a better doctor — because I truly understand the impact of feeling like yourself again."

Treatment philosophy

Medicine is both art and science

Listen first

"Lab values tell part of the story. Listening to the patient tells the rest. I treat people, not numbers."

Start low, go slow

Care begins conservatively and is optimized gradually — for safety and for results that last.

Educate & partner

"An informed patient is an empowered patient." You'll understand every part of your plan and why it's there.

Sailing Through Menopause: Without Losing a Rudder

by George K. Ibrahim, MD, MBA

In this plain-language guide, Dr. Ibrahim distills three decades of clinical experience into an honest look at perimenopause, menopause, and the years beyond. Across twelve chapters he explains what's actually happening in the body, clears up the confusion around hormone therapy, and lays out the modern options women are too rarely told about.

Also the author of Restore Your Prime, the companion guide for men.
